This is the fourth book about Donald Trump by American journalist Michael Wolff. It covers Trump’s ‘wilderness years’ between his defeat in 2020 and his re-election in 2024. To know the author’s outlook, one need look no further than the hostile comments of Steven Cheung, White House communications director, who stated that Wolff routinely fabricated stories and referenced his ‘sick and warped imagination’ and his ‘peanut-sized brain’.

Key areas in the book include Trump’s multiple lawsuits, Republican primaries and conventions, and the campaign trail leading up to the November 2024 election. It is not a traditional academic work as it lacks citations, but instead is based on largely anonymous briefings provided by many insiders. It is very much a political romp.
