This case study supports evaluation within a wide range of global topics, such as global governance, global power and regionalism. It is relevant to students following Edexcel’s global examination route.

There are few groups with as profound an impact on the international system today as the Houthis. This political and military group, based in Yemen, emerged in the 1990s and has been fighting a civil war in the country since 2014, when they seized control of the capital, Sanaa. Their story provides excellent examples with which to analyse the international system. This case study is designed to provide you with one detailed example that you can use as evidence across each of the Edexcel global politics units, saving you time and headspace.
