Ebeneezer Howard published ‘Tomorrow — a Peaceful Path to Real Reform’ in 1898, which became ‘Garden Cities of Tomorrow’ when it was republished in 1902. As a journalist, Howard had spent years listening to MPs debate how to improve people’s living conditions. Some of his ideas were based on what he had seen when reporting on the rebuilding of Chicago, USA, after a fire in the 1870s.
