NEW HORIZONS CENTREPIECE

A new future for GEOGRAPHY REVIEW with the Royal Geographical Society

After 39 years publishing GEOGRAPHY REVIEW, the magazine portfolio at Hachette Learning will be drawing to a close.

The first issue of GEOGRAPHY REVIEW was published in September 1987 when three of the current editors were sixth-formers. The first article in the first issue, titled ‘Why Geography Matters’, was penned by Doreen Massey. This encapsulates so much of what the magazine has sought to deliver over the years. Massey was professor of geography at the Open University and a hugely influential geographer known for her work on place, uneven development, gender and public policy.
