Developments at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford

B B C and Sadler’s Wells buildings at London’s East Bank.

You may have studied the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home of the 2012 London Olympic Games, as an example of an urban regeneration project in Stratford, East London. While much of this development is now coming up to 15 years old, regeneration didn’t stop when the Olympics ended. Regeneration continues throughout Stratford.

East Bank has diversified the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to boost education, culture and arts in the area. The new development includes a 550seat dance theatre for Sadler’s Wells, new campuses for University of Arts London (UAL) and University College London (UCL), two new sites for the V&A museum to display its world-famous collections, and the relocation of BBC music studios, creating a hub for music in the city. This development aims to attract an extra 1.5 million visitors to the Olympic Park each year, bringing in over 10,000 students and creating 2,500 new jobs.
