
The huge tower featured in this photograph is called Taipei 101. At the time it was built in 2003 it was the tallest building in the world, but it has since been surpassed by at least 10 taller buildings. This skyscraper is in Taipei City, the capital of Taiwan and a place prone to earthquakes.
As a result, it has been constructed to withstand very strong earthquakes, and it shows the confidence that this island nation has in its ability to protect its population.
