Decision-making exam papers are so called because, by the end of the paper, you are asked to make a decision. The final question is likely to be the longest answer you will write in the whole of your geography GCSE exams, and — depending on the exam board — could be worth 9 or even 12 marks.
The Resource Booklet on which your exam is based will introduce you to a place and an issue. The issue will be about a problem which is affecting that place. The Resource Booklet will consist of maps, photos, diagrams, and statistics, which will give you the information you need about the place and the issue. Most of the exam questions will assess your ability to understand these resources. As you progress, you will read that different solutions are proposed to deal with the issue. Towards the end you will be given some options that could provide a solution to the issue. You must select one and explain why you think it is the best.
