On AQA Paper 2, Part B Option 1, you will find the ‘Beliefs in Society’ questions. There are three exam questions, worth 10 marks, 10 marks and then 20 marks. Each of these questions is likely to require you to apply your knowledge of specific religious organisations. In this article, we explore how you can maximise your marks in doing so.

AO2 skills (application) are worth roughly one-third of your marks overall at A-level. Application refers to where students are expected to select appropriate knowledge and to show how it is relevant to a point made. So, application could involve showing how certain studies, theories, concepts, statistics, contemporary examples or, in this topic, religious organisations back up or challenge a particular point. Examiners recognise application when phrases such as the following are used:
