What are the ‘characteristics’?

As part of your study for Section A of Unit 3/Component 3, you need to know the ‘characteristics’ of the behaviours you study. Students are often challenged by exam questions that ask about ‘characteristics’.

‘Characteristics’ may take the form of behaviours described in diagnostic criteria or may be in the form of lists of identified features of individuals who display specific behaviours. Box 1 provides a further explanation of the term ‘characteristics’.
