The humanistic approach

This is a way of studying human behaviour that focuses on subjective experiences of the world, potential for personal growth and conscious decision-making.

Humanistic concepts were inspired by Greek mythology, ancient religions and philosophies including Buddhism and Hinduism. The term ‘humanistic’ was first used in 1930, but the approach was popularised in the 1960s.
