The development of quantum physics began with attempts to solve problems with classical physics, such as the blackbody spectrum, atomic spectra and the photoelectric effect. The new theory introduced ideas such as Planck’s constant and the quantisation of the electromagnetic field, wave–particle duality and the photon concept, and ultimately the Schrödinger equation and modern applications, such as particle physics and electronics.
