Learned helplessness is a topic covered by all the major exam boards.

Learned helplessness is defined as an individual’s belief that failure is inevitable and that due to negative previous experiences failure is the only option. It is a barrier to success because it reduces a perfomer’s ability to perform at their best and can affect future performance. This is because the performer believes they have no control over the situation, which results in avoidance behaviours and a lack of task persistence and/or effort.
