OCR Y104/Y134 England, 1377–1455
The second half of the fourteenth century saw several mass revolts in Europe (in and around Paris, Florence and Flanders). In England, revolt was sparked in the summer of 1381, with the young king, Richard II, in a vulnerable position. Richard II had not been expected to come to the throne when he did, but in 1376 and 1377 his father and then his grandfather died, leaving him as a 10-year-old in charge of the realm.
