A note from the editor…

After more than three decades of publication, Chemistry Review reaches its final issue with this edition. Designed specifically for A-level chemists, the magazine has aimed to bridge the gap between school and university by presenting cutting-edge chemistry in an accessible and engaging way. Over its 35 volumes, all edited at the University of York, the magazine has showcased the excitement, diversity and relevance of modern chemical science.

A distinctive strength of Chemistry Review has been the involvement of the University of York’s chemistry undergraduates, many of whom have contributed articles that combine clarity, enthusiasm and real insight into the subject. Their writing has helped readers see chemistry not just as a set of topics to be learnt for assessment, but as a creative, evolving discipline shaped by people who are only a few years ahead in their studies.
