One myth about examinations is that they only test the ability of students to write down the facts they have been taught. As a student following a post-16 course in biology, you will know that this is not true.
Hopefully, you would refer to ‘writing about facts that you have been taught’ as demonstrating recall. Furthermore, you will know that recall is just one part of assessment objective 1 (AO1) of your course. You will also know that examination questions testing the whole of AO1 contribute only about one-third of the total marks in your final examinations in biology.
